IT WILL ROCK THE HOUSE and gets superb reviews!! Everything in this amp is heavy duty! You hook it to your receiver with an RCA cable from the LFE output. It weighs 30 pounds and is rack mountable. And, has more than enough horsepower to drive both subwoofers cleanly. This is a Class AB amp and much more sophisticated circuitry than the Class D crap that came from CSW. I purchased a 1000 W Dayton Subwoofer Amplifier from Their part # 300-811. Drill a very small hole in the cabinet and run the wire out of the whole. Once you are certain that this is the wire to the subwoofer, cut of the little white plug and attached a long length of wire to the remaining wire. The other end of that wire is attached directly to the active subwoofer - the one on top. One small plug that is on the board with a white plastic connector with two wires, one red, one white. So I took the amps out of the cases and disconnected the subs from the board. The CSW cabinets, tweeters, midranges and crossovers are very very good. The best way to resolve the problem is the following and what I have done for the ultimate repair. The hissing and popping sound is a typical symptom of a defective or blown capacitor.ģ. These are an unusual value and not easily found. They are 4700~µ, 100 Volt Electrolytic capacitors. If you google them, they are the cheapest crap known to man. The ones they used for the second repair were a brand called LUXON. The originals had no values on them - but obviously cheap crap because they leaked all over the board. When the last repair was done, they replaced the electrolytic capacitors (two on each board). I took mine apart after CSW refused to even give me a schematic or information. Pay them the money - unacceptable and definitely not a good return on investment.Ģ. I had the same thought as you with regard to the lack of service at CSW. i thought i had to go through the bass port (radiator) to get at the hardware, i see the rear panel screws, now that you mentioned it. Please forgive me for not looking closer. I'll update the thread after i get one appart and see how much work it will be to eliminate those amps and come up with a suitable cover plate to reseal the box. I've got to do something so they are useable and warrant keeping, because apparently no one through craigslist is willing to buy them as they are. Perhaps the sensitivity is a poor match between the driver compliment, and a more robust amp output is needed to ballance the bass to the rest of them and/or attenuate the upper section. ![]() Rewiring them to use an outboard amp, or just running them all from my NAD 3080 which can handle it, and/or i do have a sansui au999 i could use to power the subs, are alternative options. I have had this same amp problem and was looking for a fix to it. I thought i had to get the side covers off and remove the driver to get into the cabinet, and didn't want to damage the woodwork prying at them and probably breaking something if they are fastened from inside. Increase this level to a matching value for each channel until you can hear your Newton speakers.Click to expand. Please forgive me for not looking closer. ![]() Navigate to your speaker level control on the speaker setup menu. Return to your preamp/processor or receiver. This may be a setting labeled for speaker size for example, choose "large." Or, if it has just a crossover setting, increase that to it's highest value. Then go to the rear panel of your of your Basscube. Line level is the easiest as it uses only one cable so I'll assume that is what you've used. The following instructions I'll provide you with will presume that you are using a digitally controlled receiver or preamp/processor with an LED or LCD display and remote. On the preamp/processor or receiver, navigate to your speaker setup menu and adjust the frequency output of any bass management system it may have to a full range signal. There are 2 ways that signal can be connected to the Basscube, your inquiry does not describe which you are using either speaker level or line level. Check your connections that you are using from your preamp/processor or receiver to the Basscube to confirm that any adjustments I'll give you instructions for will go to the correct output.
